Interesting discussion, I like the idea of the raft following more the outline of the object. The raft is indeed a huge waste of material, any savings there would help. I have printed around small 60 parts without raft, with the necesarry tuning and good condition of the bed you get nice results. I like the smooth finish of raftless prints. Erik, what do you mean with 'I printed a lot of things on duct tape, without a raft'? On the sticky side?
